SPRINGWATCH FESTIVAL

June 8th & 9th 2007

City Centre

HULL

Our stand at the Springwatch Festival in Hull proved to be a fantastic success. We had a steady stream of visitors on  Friday followed by a frantically busy day on Saturday!  We were offering visitors the opportunity of making their own bird cake to take away with them and hang up in their gardens.

Ingredients on offer included lard, cheese, meal worms, apple, crushed peanuts, raisins and wild bird seed.

We were kept busy chopping up, crushing and replenishing supplies whilst our visitors got their hands messy mixing everything together!

We reckon over 450 bird cakes were made and taken home over the two days.

It was also a good opportunity to give our display stand another airing (which was brilliantly made by Rachel for our display at the Humber Bridge Bash the other year).  Leaflets were handed out to draw attention to our Breathing Places Big Lottery grant award and project.  Visitors were encouraged to leave contact details if they were interested in finding out more.

Thanks to Hessle High School students who helped us man the stand on Friday.  They did a brilliant job!

All in all it was a great weekend for the "Friends".
