WINTER/SPRING EVENTS 2008

 

 

FOR ALL CONSERVATION DAYS, no previous experience is needed, just come along and have a go after we’ve shown you what to do. The conservation activities are suitable for adults and children of all ages and abilities.

Bird 'Fruit Orchard' Planting

Come along this morning to help us plant a fruit orchard as part of our Breathing Places project.  This area has been designed to provide an ideal feeding area specifically for song thrushes and bullfinches, but will also encourage other species of birds.  Find out what varieties of fruit are most popular with these birds.

KIDS GO WILD: WICKED WINTER WILDLIFE TRAIL

Follow our winter wildlife trail around the reserve to discover just how clever some of the wildlife is that lives on the reserve in the winter. This event is sponsored through the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park’s Breathing Places grant and is part of our Birds for Breathing Places Project.

WONDERFUL WILLOW

Come along and try your hand at working with willow. See the living willow tunnel built by the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park which continues to flourish each year. Make something for your garden or home, or contribute to a larger piece on the reserve. This event is sponsored through the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park’s Breathing Places grant and is part of our Birds for Breathing Places Project.

KIDS GO WILD: NEST BUILDING FOR BEGINNERS!

Find out more about what the birds are up to at this time of year in the Humber Bridge Country Park, and have a go at building your own eggstraordinary nest!  This event is sponsored through the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park’s Breathing Places grant and is part of our Birds for Breathing Places Project. EASTER EGG TRAIL

Follow our Easter Egg Trail around the nature reserve and have a go at decorating your own egg to take home.  This event is sponsored through the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park’s Breathing Places grant and is part of our Birds for Breathing Places Project. A BIRD’S EYE VIEW

Take part in a special storytelling event with Spinoff Productions in the Country Park today to celebrate the completion our Birds for Breathing Places project. We will be following the journey of a swallow from Africa to the reserve, and creating a giant swallow model along the way. This event is sponsored through the Friends of the Humber Bridge Country Park’s Breathing Places grant.

Wednesday 25th June 7pm – 9pm (Conservation event - suitable for all)

CONSERVATION AT THE HUMBER BRIDGE COUNTRY PARK

Visit this Local Nature Reserve this evening and take part in looking after its valuable wild flower clearings and ponds. It’s an opportunity to discover some of the beautiful wild flowers in the woodland glades, whilst also lending a hand with the Friends group in their important conservation work on the reserve.
