OUTDOOR Sunday 11th May 2008 4.30am Dawn Chorus

An early start and it was surprisingly chilly but we were rewarded with the park gradually bursting into full song.

Our BirdVoice gadget was incredibly useful as we were able to use it to listen to a sample of a bird song Richard had identified and then listen for it ourselves in the park.  After a good 3 hours walking round the park we finished off with a breakfast BBQ!

BIRDS EYE VIEW Sunday 1st June 2008

Today was all about following the journey of a swallow from Africa to the country park.  We found out about the dangers encountered on the route of this incredible journey which is undertaken twice a year.  The journey was brought alive by a storyteller and artist from Spinoff Productions.  Have a look at the photo of our larger than life sized papier mache swallow!

This morning we were ably helped by St Matthew's scouts to sow teasel seeds to encourage goldfinch in to the country park.

Family Wildlife Afternoon Sunday 8th June 2008 1.30pm-4pm

The final event in our Birds for Breathing Places project - an afternoon of fun activities for all ages including woodland trail, bird quiz, bird feeder making, giant collage and leaf rubbing. We were all exhausted by 4pm but never the less really enjoyed ourselves. The perfect end to a very enjoyable Breathing Places project.
