It was all go on Sunday January 20th 2008 when as part of our Birds for Breathing Places project we planted our "Bird fruit orchard" in the country park.  As a result of work done in our indoor workshops this area has been designed to specifically attract and benefit  bullfinch and song thrush, 2 of our target species. For more information on our Breathing Places project click here.  We planted Yew, Holly, Crab Apple and Rowan trees.  Luckily we were ably assisted by St Matthews Scout group who are regular volunteers with us and helped to make light work of what otherwise could have been a long and tiring job.  As you can see from the photographs pickaxes were needed to break up the chalky deposits when a certain depth had been reached.  Peat free compost was added to the planting holes to help to give the trees the best chance possible.
